NIST invites applications for the post of Principal

Responsibilities:


The candidate will be the academic and administrative head of the institute and must have strong leadership qualities. In the leadership position, candidate must be able to guide various departments in engineering, science and management in close collaboration with department heads and faculty. Candidate must be familiar or have worked with all statutory bodies, rules/regulations/guidelines of University, AICTE, UGC, and State Govt. and expected to lead activities related to accreditation. Candidate must have a good background for collaborative research with universities in India and abroad, strong industry partnership/collaboration and development of entrepreneurial activities at the institute. Candidate must be visionary with excellent communication, presentation and leadership skill to lead the institute to make it a vibrant center for academic excellence and research.

Applicants should have a demonstrated record of excellence in collegiate/university teaching. The candidate will advise Graduate/Ph.D. students on various research projects. Experience with and the ability to successfully teach remotely/online are also highly sought after skills.

Essential Qualifications:


The qualifications for the appointment of Principal at NIST is in accordance with the UGC regulations.

The ideal candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in engineering from a recognized university, specifically in the areas of computer science, electronics, and communication engineering with evidence of quality published work, industry collaboration, research grants and research guidance. Candidate must have at least 60% mark in the master’s program and a minimum of fifteen years of teaching/research/administration experience in Universities, Colleges and other institutions of higher education. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), as set out in the UGC Regulation for direct recruitment of Professors in Colleges.

General Conditions and Guidelines:



The term of appointment of the College Principal shall be for five years with eligibility for reappointment for one more term only after a similar selection process which shall take into account an external peer review, its recommendations and its outcomes, as per the UGC regulations. Interested and eligible candidates are requested to submit their bio-data along with objectively verifiable records and photocopy of certificates/testimonials with respect to the qualifications and experience.

  1. NIST reserves right to raise the minimum eligibility qualification in order to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview.
  2. The direct recruitment to the post of Principal shall be on the basis of merit through selections by the duly constituted Selection/Search Committee as per the regulations.
  3. The selected candidates on joining for the post applied for, as per the term, will be kept on probation for one year during which they will be under continuous internal assessment.
  4. Applicants should possess the prescribed qualifications and experience as on the closing date of application as prescribed by the College. Merely fulfilling the minimum qualifications or the eligibility criteria does not entitle an applicant to be necessarily considered or called for interview.
  5. The candidates called for the interview should report along with all the testimonials/certificate in original along with photo ID. A set of photocopies of certificates/testimonials with respect to the qualifications and experience duly certified by the applicant should be submitted at the time of interview.
  6. Applicant preferably must not be more than 55 years of age as on date of submission of application.
  7. Applicants serving in Government/Public/Private Sector Undertakings (including Boards/Autonomous Bodies) are required to submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ as per the service rules of the current employer.
  8. All correspondence from the College including interview letter, if any, shall be sent only to the e-mail address provided by the applicant in the offline application form.
  9. The College shall verify the documents submitted by and antecedents of the applicant at the time of appointment or anytime during the tenure of the service. In case it is found that the documents/ information submitted by the candidate are false or the candidate has suppressed relevant information, the services of the candidate shall be terminated without prejudice to any other action initiated by the College.
  10. In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of screening/selection, the decision of the College shall be final.
