About NIST:
National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) (www.nist.edu) is an autonomous institute established in 1996 as first engineering college in southern Odisha. NIST is the first NRI higher education initiative in the state established with an objective to have a center of academic excellence and research at par with international universities in the founders' home state of Odisha.
Located at foothills of Pallur Hills in Berhampur, spanning over sixty acres of lush green campus, NIST is a premiere research institute in the country offering undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs in Engineering, Science, and Management. NIST has set benchmarks through its outstanding academic programs, quality education, and cutting edge multidisciplinary research in the areas such as VLSI Design, Data Science, High Performance Computing, IoT, Renewable Energy, and Mechatronics. NIST faculty members are among BOYSCAST and Fulbright scholars, INSA Fellows, USRI Scientist and Samanta Chandrasekhar Young Scientist award recipients, including other achievements. NIST has over twenty Centers of Excellence (CoE) and three Centers of Research Excellence (CRE) where students, faculty, and scholars do collaborative research in areas spanning from embedded system, nanotechnology, robotics, analytics, parallel processing, 5G communication to renewable energy. NIST faculty and scholars are recipient of significant research grants from multiple international and national organizations such as DST SERB, DST WOSA, DST AMT, MHRD, UGC, and AICTE. NIST has research collaborations with universities around the globe [e.g., IAMS (Taiwan), Univ. of Electro-Communication (Japan), Brunel University (London), and NJIT (USA) …] and strong industry-academia partnership with multiple industries in different sectors. Many of the research and industry collaborations have resulted in innovative products and solutions in the areas of Specialized ERP, Micro grid, Smart Agriculture, and Home Automation. NIST has produced over 14000 alumni who contribute globally in the areas of technology, leadership, entrepreneurship, and social and public services.
NIST is NACC “A” and NBA accredited. It is ranked 69th by NIRF, MHRD (Govt. of India) in 2016, 69th and 67th in All-India by DATAQUEST in 2017, 2020 respectively, and 58th and 60th in all India by OUTLOOK in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
